Giving Hands for Community Chest
Year 2 students from DMC were tasked with the job of creating a 2-3 minute Youth Day Appeal Video for Community Chest. With the objective of encouraging students to donate and to care for the less fortunate, students worked in groups to conceptualise and produce the video clips. “Giving Hands” by Wong Yan Ting, Ng Zhong Wei and Tan Hui Ying was eventually selected as the winning video. The video will be used as Community Chest’s official Youth Day 2011 appeal video which will be broadcasted to all secondary schools, junior colleges and ITEs across Singapore.

Halloween @ Night Safari
Nine DMC Year 2 and 3 students were selected to work with Night Safari to publicise their highly successful annual spooky Halloween event, Halloween Horrors. Leveraging the wide reach of social media tools, our DMC students set up a Twitter account for the charming character, BoonTheBat, which helped generate lots of buzz for the event. We also ran tie-ups with NUS and NTU to generate publicity on those campuses. Visitor reports and tales of terror at the Night Safari testify to the great success of the event, where 118,000 visitors and tourists survived the horrors of Halloween!

OktoLIVE!
OktoLIVE! is a final year project by 10 DMC Year 3 students. This programme is an interactive programme designed for young viewers with guests appearing every week for interviews and games (celebrities like Royston Tan, Daren Tan, Mark Lee etc). Our students spearheaded the show by coming up with ideas, shooting the segments, warming up the live audiences, directing the cast and handling all the camera works! OktoLIVE! became a huge success and eventually went on to produce its third season on Singapore’s Okto channel.

Green March
The Green March was part of SP’s “Dream to go Green” initiative to promote environmentalism and show SP’s support for Mother Earth.  The entire cohort of 102 third year DMC students led The Green March campaign in 2010 as part of their final year project, bringing together a whole community to plant trees, participate in the Green March, and show support for the green movement.
From concept to execution, the students put into practice all they had learnt in DMC. From event management, using integrated communication to spread a message, media pitching and handling media relations, to branding and corporate identity, they saw how everything came together on the day of the Green March when students, staff and members of the Dover community gathered to show their support for Mother Earth. This initiative helped SP to go on and win the President’s award for the environment.

Maritime One Logo Design Competition
Final year students from DMC got a real taste of ‘Corporate Identity and Branding Management’ (a third year module) when they worked to propose a new logo for Maritime ONE.  They were tasked to raise awareness of the maritime industry and encourage youths to pursue a profession in the maritime sector.
Under the initiative of the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) and Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), the final year DMC students were given a chance to showcase their proposed logos and branding initiatives to a panel of judges.
When the winning logo was chosen, the DMC students were all smiles as they had presented their best ideas and had walked away with a great deal of satisfaction and an enriching learning experience.

SPACE Radio
SPACE Radio is a radio station unlike any other, as it is run by our very own SP students. To be the best, our students learn from the best, with industry attachments to MediaCorp Radio, where they learn best practices and lastest trends from the movers and shakers of the industry. On air since 21st October 2010, SPACE Radio gives students a voice, a platform where they can express themselves and create a vibrant lifestyle. SPACE Radio broadcast from Mondays to Fridays, 12- 2pm at T19 and Hilltop Café, Student Hub@Moberly, Hilltop Haven and the Main Library.
